Catfish Study Group Convention on this weekend
Wigan has cemented its rightful place as the catfish capital of the world by once again hosting the CSG Convention.
The 41st of its kind, the Convention is arguably the biggest, best and most important meeting of catfish keepers anywhere on the planet.
The list of speakers and attendees over the years reads like a who’s who of catfish taxonomy, discovery, keeping and breeding experiences, and there are few if any fishkeeping events like it.
Especially as it runs for three days, in a hotel, where you can stay for the entire duration.
Speakers
This year talks will be on Corydoradinae, SE Asian hillstream catfishes, African catfishes, and Loricarids.
Delivering those talks are speakers Steven Grant, Luiz Tencatt, Allan James Snr, Rebecca Bentley, Jacqueline Heijmen Bennett-Leaver, Markus Kaluza, Andreas Tanke, Brian Walsh, Jost Borcherding and Mike King.
The convention is well placed geographically as Wigan is also home to Pier Aquatics, which held Pleco day last month.
There are also fish on show, fish for sale, trade stands, dinners on the Friday and Saturday night, and of course a bar.
